'We had the opportunity to meet with Redd and Pee Wee many times, in fact I interviewed Pee Wee at length for the Country Music Hall of Fame 30 years ago. Both were the epitome of gracious, unaffected gentlemen, despite all their honors and their talent.
I always thought your dad was a truly great and underrated singer, as well as a justly famous musician, and I and we have been honored to know them both. We always exchanged Christmas cards through the years, but did not meet up often enough, sad to say. Still knowing Redd was one of the highlights of my career.
I often reflect on the many great pioneers I've been lucky to know through the years who are gone now. It means more to me with every passing year. Many of us in the business still remember that your dad was one of the great unsung heroes who got a lot of well-deserved admiration, but perhaps not as much as he truly deserves as a singer, musician and songwriter.'
