'This is a wonderful thing you are doing to preserve the memory and great accomplishments of Redd Stewart. I feel very privileged to have known him, howbeit my admiration for him was mostly from afar.
I met Redd and Pee Wee King in Des Moines, Iowa about 1952 or 1953. I was a headliner on WH"O Radio with a band called the Rodeo Boys. Smokey Smith was at KRNT and often brought in new shows. He brought in Pee Wee King Show, and as always, I was allowed to be backstage to mingle with the entertainers.
I went on to WWVA's World Original Jamboree Saturday night show in 1953, started recording for Columbia Records in 1954. Now, I'm doing shows on my Internet Radio Station, TCM Radio just for kicks, and having a ball! I did a small gig Saturday night and sang, 'Tennessee Waltz.' The old folks loved it! I always feature it on my shows.' (Dusty Owens/Temple Terrace, FL)
