'One of the first things I can remember as a kid is hearing music on the radio. As a very small child I heard Redd Stewart with Pee Wee King and the Golden West Cowboys. My family always listened to the Grand Ole Opry, and later in life I heard Redd sing with the Pee Wee King Band on recordings. He was indeed a gifted songwriter.
What a lucky man Redd was to have made his living full-time in music all his life with no day job, and of course, it must have been wonderful to have achieved fame. But to someone who has a great passion for music, just earning your living all your life in music is wonderful, fame is secondary to the person who really loves music.
I think it was Shakespeare who said, 'All the world is a stage and we must all play our parts.' Redd had a wonderful part, a wonderful role, to play in life. He was truly a talented man who brought much music joy to millions of people.' (Robert Lee Johnson (The Guitar Man)
