More Memories
Doreen Brown "A pleasure and honour to sign the guestbook relatating to Redd Stewart. A
wonderful legacy, indeed, that he has left and what a nice and thoughtful
expression of him referred in this site. Am familiar with all the songs
mentioned on the site, but wish to take this opportunity to share re the first
time I heard of "The Solder's Last Letter". I attended a public school in
Northern Ontario on the outskirts of the mining City of Sudbury. While I was in
Grade 2, the teacher wrote the words to this song on the blackboard. Her name
was Mrs Bryce. I always remembered the words and have since played this song on
my guitar. Special wishes to all Redd's family and he would be proud of this
site. The very best for 2004. Country Cheers"
Britni Hendrickson "Hello. I enjoyed Redd's sight very much. He was a great artist
and I know is very much missed. I love the song "Tennessee Waltz", in fact I
just sang that song tonight at a country music show. Job well done on this site.
God Bless..~**Britni**~"
Bob Robinson "Redd Stewart was one of the finest artists in Country Music! My
favorite song that he and Peewee King did was "When The Lights Grow Dim
Downtown". I'm glad to see this web page dedicated to his memory, and the
promotion of his great body of work! I wish you all the luck with it, and our
hopes is that todays Nashville will stop forgetting where it came from and who
built it......it's time to honor Redd and others like him who paved the way!!"
Bill Littleton "Hi, Sharon, thanks for dropping by Uncle Willam's Place and
thanks for doing such an appropriate site for Ole Redd. I got to hang out with
PeeWee on a number of occasions during my years with THE INTERNATIONAL MUSICIAN
(1968-1975) and with PERFORMANCE Magazine (1973-1994), but there was one
delightful afternoon when Redd pinch hit for PeeWee at a national convention of
accordian educators, I think it was, and somebody had written an arrangement of
"Tennessee Waltz" for forty-two kazillian accordians. Don't remember the exact
number, but they literally filled the plaza between the Doubletree Hotel and the
bank building next door. Maybe three press people showed up and I'm sure I'm the
only one who stayed all afternoon -- Redd and I had a good time."
Jan Howard "Your web site is a wonderful tribute to a true legend. One of the first shows I ever worked after moving to Nashville from California was in Grand Rapids, MI with Pee Wee King and Redd Stewart. I was petrified with stage fright. But when I handed them the charts to my songs they said "you're gonna be a pro"...what a compliment. They never forgot that, and I never forgot their kindness to a newcomer. At her request I learned one of Minnie Pearl's favorite songs, "You Belong to Me" which I sing often on the Opry. A great site....." www.janhoward.com
