1937 - Got job playing in Pee Wee King's band, the Golden West Cowboys
1939 - Moved to Nashville
1944 - Pee Wee King, Redd Stewart & Ernest Tubb wrote "Soldier's Last Letter"
1944 - "Soldier's Last Letter" was released by Ernest Tubb; stayed #1 for four weeks
1947 - Signed a lifetime exclusive songwriting contract with Acuff-Rose Publications
1947 - Redd & Pee Wee King wrote the "Tennessee Waltz"
1948 -  Redd & Pee Wee King wrote "Bonaparte's Retreat"
1951 - Patti Page recorded "Tennessee Waltz."  Her recording of "Tennessee Waltz," at ten million sold, remains, the biggest selling single ever recorded by a female artist. It was Patti Page who took country music out of the country and onto the pop charts with such million record sellers as "Mockin’ Bird Hill," " I Went To Your Wedding," " Mr. & Mississippi" and, of course, the legendary "Tennessee Waltz."
1948-1957- Regular television show on WAVE-TV in Louisville with the Golden West Cowboys
1951 - Redd, Pee Wee King & Chilton Price wrote "You Belong to Me"
1951 - Had success on pop charts with "Slow Poke"
1951 - Appeared in the movie "Ridin’ the Outlaw Trail"
1952 - Appeared in the movie "The Rough, Tough West"
1958 - Feature film debut in Gene Autry film, "Gold Mine in the Sky"
1959-1963 - Worked with Minnie Pearl
1959 - Audio Lab album "Redd Stewart Sings Favorite Old Time Tunes."
1961 - Appeared in the movie "Hoedown"
1965 - "Tennessee Waltz" named state song of Tennessee
1972 - *Inducted into Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame
2004 - The Tennessee Waltz Has Been Awarded BMI's 3,000,000 Airplay Award. (one million airplays is equivilent to 5.7 years of continuous plays) He shares this honor with such greats as "I Write The Songs" By Barry Manilow, "My Way" By Frank Sinatra, "Your Cheatin Heart" By Hank Williams, Love Me Tender By Elvis Prersley, & King of the road By Roger Miller.
2004 - Redd Stewart Inducted Into The Country Legends Hall Of Fame


The picture at top right is Redd receiving his Manny Award from the Nashville Songwriters Foundation when he was inducted into the Songwritwrs Hall Of Fame. Each inductee who receives the coveted Manny Award (derived from the term "manuscript") has been deemed outstanding and significant by their peers.
