Performers For 2004:
Fred
Atkins
Fred
Atkins, one of 6 kids, was born and raised in Louisiana. A Christian
up-bringing by godly parents had the greatest influence on his life.
His father Buck Atkins passed away when Fred was 9 years old. His
mother Annie Bell Atkins greatly sacrificed to raise and instill
Christian values and morals in her children. Fred played sax in
the high school band and guitar in local junior and high school
rock bands but gospel music had the greatest impact in his life.
Fred was saved at 9 years old and came to know a loving Heavenly
Father. In 1987, Fred's mother passed away. 'My Great Loss today'
was written right after the funeral as a tribute to his mother.
Fred's greatest desire is to reach the lost with the songs that
God gives him. . http://cdbaby.com/cd/fredatkins
Robert
Clarkson I was born in Nashville and lived in middle Tennessee
all my life. I was in the Army for four years, and have done a variety
of jobs the last ten years. I have always loved to sing and am thrilled
to have the opportunity to record an album. I am signed with KMA
and have been very pleased with the way they have treated me. The
quality of the work should speak for itself. The best part of the
album is that I wrote five of the songs. I hope you enjoy! God bless. http://home.earthlink.net/~rlclarkson/
Phil
McGarrah & Running On Empty Band
Phil
grew up in a one-room log cabin in the Spring Valley and Clifty
area of Northwest Arkansas. "Life was plain and simple,
farming and logging. I guess I started playing the guitar
when I was about 5 years old. I watched my brother, cousins, and
uncles play at church. I saw where they put their fingers
on the strings and it was all history from there." Wrote
his first song at 8 years old, "Night Time In Old Kentucky"
which can still be heard when ROE plays live. "I have had a
great life growing up in rural Arkansas and I believe things will
come to those who wait, but only what’s left behind from those who
hustle. http://www.runninonemptyband.com
James
Segrest James Segrest was born and raised on a forty-acre
cotton farm thirty miles east of Montgomery, AL. Music entered his
life at a very young age. When he was eight years old, he broke
a string on his dad’s guitar and was prepared to face the music,
having been told time and again to leave the guitar alone. But,
he was rather surprised when his dad only told him that he would
get some new stings and asked James to go with him. While
in the music store, his dad bought him a guitar of his own. After
several years of local picking and singing, James went to a local
studio and cut his first 45-RPM record on a “Bama” label, entitled
“Bankrupt”. In 1965, James made his first trip to Nashville...
